I began sewing at age thirteen, making doll clothes for my grandmother’s vintage doll business. I sewed my own clothes in junior high and high school and even made my and my twin sister’s wedding dresses. After getting married, sewing took a backseat to my career and raising two children.
Eager to find a hobby after retiring and moving to Hendersonville, North Carolina, I enrolled in quilting and fabric arts classes. I began experimenting with different techniques and fell in love with fabric collage. Each original art quilt I create is collaged in colorful batik fabric, appliqué-stitched, machine-quilted, and often hand-painted and embellished with beads and sequins to add depth and sparkle.
My quilt art walks the line between realistic, and playful, abstract renditions of my subject matter.
As a nature lover and avid hiker, my art is often inspired by the wildlife and natural beauty of Western North Carolina. And, my love for dogs—I was a pet therapy volunteer with my two Golden Retrievers, Hope and Faith, for ten years—inspired me to create Custom Pet Portraits.
I’m a juried member of Carolina Mountain Artists Guild, and my art quilts are available in the guild’s store at 444 N. Main Street, in downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina. I’m also a member of the Art League of Henderson County.
My art quilt, “Rainbow Buck,” is featured in the 2025-2026 Artscape Banner Program, a public art project displayed on the light poles on Main Street in downtown Hendersonville.
