AppliQuilt Art

Hand-crafted, original art wall hangings, created with batik fabric and a mix of appliqué, collage, quilting, and embellishments.

I began sewing when I was thirteen, making doll clothes for my grandmother’s vintage doll business. I sewed clothes in junior high and high school and even made my and my twin sister’s wedding dresses. After I got married, sewing took a backseat to my career and raising two children.

Eager to find a hobby after I retired and moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina, I enrolled in quilting and fabric arts classes. I began experimenting with my new skills and the result was AppliQuilt Art: original wall hangings created using vibrant batik fabrics, a mix of appliqué, collage, and quilting techniques, and adorned with metallic ribbon and bead and sequin embellishments.

I’m a member of the Art League of Henderson County, and a juried member of the Carolina Mountain Artists Guild, where my AppliQuilt Art is available in the guild’s store at 444 N. Main Street in downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina.

AppliQuilt Art details

Each AppliQuilt Art piece is embellished with a mix of metallic ribbon, beads and sequins, and finished with hand-sewn binding, an artist’s label, and a hanging dowel or frame.

Custom Pet Portrait Art Quilts: $200

Each custom Pet Portrait is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted piece of fabric art. I will collage your beloved pet in colorful batik fabric, then quilt, appliqué stitch, hand-paint, hand-finish, and adorn it with plenty of sparkle and love.

My style balances a realistic approach with the abstract and throws in a touch of whimsy. My goal is to capture the essence of your pet.

I begin with 4-5 photos of your pet and select the one I feel will translate best into fabric art. You will approve the photo selection before I begin creating your custom pet portrait.

Each finished pet portrait is approximately 16” x 16” and includes backing, binding, an artist’s label, and a hanging dowel.
